100% Pinot Noir, “Zotovich Vineyard”, Santa Rita Hills
Aromas of dried rose petals, clove, nutmeg, and cinnamon, ripe bing cherry compote and cranberry. On the palate, warm vanilla, rhubarb, and anise match perfectly with the flavors of fall.
The 2014 Zotovich Vineyard Pinot Noir comes to us from the Sta. Rita Hills AVA which has one of the longest growing seasons in the Central Coast. This region is known for producing world-class Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and cool climate Syrah. Grapes for this wine went through whole-cluster fermentation, a style sought after by few brave winemakers in this region. Post fermentation, the lot was left to age in neutral French oak puncheons for over 30 months before being blended to taste and bottled to just 197 cases on June 9th, 2017.
Pinots generally pair well with almost everything on the dinner table. Our 2014 Pinot Noir from the Zotovich Vineyard has a huge depth of fruit and earth that match incredibly well with duck and other game birds, or even a classic boeuf bourguignon. The wonderful spices and aromas will lend itself incredibly well to your Thanksgiving dinner including the turkey, ham, spiced yams, and cranberry sauce.
Although this will hang on until 2022, it will show best if you drink now or in the next 2 years.
