Green apples, meyer lemon, tangerine peel, and caramel on the nose.  The palate has balanced flavors of citrus, Tuscan melon, and butterscotch met with wonderful acidity and vanilla.  Wonderful partner to seared scallops with lemon beurre blanc.

GRAPES

100% Chardonnay

 

SENSORY

Green apples, meyer lemon, tangerine peel, and caramel on the nose.  The palate has balanced flavors of citrus, lemon zest, Tuscan melon, and butterscotch that are met with wonderful acidity and vanilla. 

 

CRAFTED

Made of 100% Chardonnay from the Santa Maria Valley AVA.  Grown in a climate that is considered to have one of the longest growing seasons in the central coast, which make it perfect for growing cool climate grapes like Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Syrah.  Being an ancient varietal of the Burgundy region of France, it does best in cool climates that have a marine influence.  Being only 16 miles away from the Pacific Ocean and hidden between a transverse mountain system, it enjoys the dense fog that rolls in every day throughout the growing season.  

 

PAIRING

Chardonnay tends to pair best with seared scallops with a lemon beurre blanc or roast chicken lathered in butter and herbs and finished accompanied with a pan jus.  Try it with something a little salty too, like buttered popcorn with sea salt, crispy French fries with a garlicky, lemony aioli, or some nice briny Kumamoto or Blue Point oysters with mignonette.

 

CELLAR

Place this in a cool, dark cellar, not to exceed 55˚ F and it should hold on until 2021.f
