This Central Coast Syrah displays aromas of blackberries, dried rose petals, clove, white pepper with hints of dark chocolate and dried tobacco leaves which are accented by dark fruits, blueberries, black licorice, brown sugar and slowly finishes with dried plums, earth, coffee and mild oak. This Syrah has medium tannins and nice acidity. We recommend cellaring from 3-5 years.
This complex blend of grapes from Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo counties includes components that underwent whole cluster fermentation and extended aging in new French oak barrels. The allocation for the Sunstone estate vineyard was picked on October 5th, fermented using D254 yeast and left to ferment in two open top fermenting bins. After barrel aging for 18 months the separate lots were blended to taste and bottled to 417 cases in May 2017.
