100% 2013 Cabernet Franc, Sunstone Estate, Santa Ynez Valley
Rich black cherry preserves, dried cranberries and fresh raspberries. Toasty French oak eventually pushes through heavy layers of peppery spices, cola, tea, green tobacco, and sage-like herbs.
Picked at about 25 degrees Brix, the estate Cabernet Franc grapes were de-stemmed and gently crushed to small open top macro bin, where they fermented on the skins for over two weeks to best extract the intense flavors and aromas. Barrel aged for 18-30 months in a combination of new and neutral French oak, the lots were blended to taste, sterile filtered and bottled to approximately 300 cases 12/750mL in August, 2015.
With its vibrant acidity and medium-heavy tannins, this wine will age beautifully with 3-5 years of cellaring.
