GRAPE BLEND & SOURCE
Inviting aromas of black cherry, boysenberry jam, vanilla and cinnamon spices abound on the nose. On the palate, round, sensual tannins lead into flavors of blackberry fruit compote complemented by notes of oak toast and dried figs.
Grapes for the 2017 Milestone come from the Sunstone Estate and a partner vineyard in Happy Canyon. All fruit was hand-harvested at night to ensure a cool fermentation. Upon delivery to the winery the grapes were de-stemmed and lightly crushed and left to ferment separately for three weeks. Post-fermentation the wine was gently pressed off the skins and left to settle for three days. The wine was then racked off the lees and left to age for 19 months before being blended to taste and bottled in July 2019.
This easy-drinking wine displays bright fruit and spice notes that easily pair with a “Meat Lovers” Pizza, BBQ Chicken or a Penne Boscaiola. If your taste buds are in the mood for something a little bolder, we recommend pairing with Filet Mignon drenched in a Peppercorn Red Wine Sauce. On the lighter side, try a Roasted Beet and Avocado Salad with Soy Sauce.
The 2017 Milestone can be enjoyed now and for up to an additional 4-6 years if stored in proper conditions.
