GRAPE BLEND & SOURCE
100% Pinot Noir
Small vineyard in Sta. Rita Hills between Buellton and Lompoc
14 months in a combination of Neutral & New French Oak
Fresh blueberries, black cherry and potting soil are complemented by cinnamon and nutmeg on the dusty nose of this Sta. Rita Hills standout. The light body and rounded tannins provide the perfect platform to showcase its dried fruit flavors, including cherry and cranberries, as well as its baking spice character and earthiness.
Fruit for the 2017 Pinot Noir comes from a small vineyard along Highway 246 in the Sta. Rita Hills between Lompoc and Buellton. The fruit was hand-picked at night and delivered to the winery before sunrise. Upon delivery the fruit was de-stemmed and lightly crushed to stainless steel fermenters where it was given twice daily pump-overs for over two weeks. Upon completion of primary fermentation the wine was drained and pressed off the skins to settle for three days before being aged in a combination of new and neutral French oak for 14 months. The wine was blended to taste and bottled in March 2019.
Enjoy the 2017 Pinot Noir with a lighter dish like Pasta Alfredo topped with fresh parmesan or with Gourmet Mushroom Risotto. Try it with a heartier meal like teriyaki pulled pork sandwich on a toasted Kaiser bread roll.
The 2017 Pinot Noir can be enjoyed now and for up to an additional 3-5 years if stored in proper conditions.
