Our 2018 Grenache Rosé features a bright nose of grapefruit, white peach, fresh strawberries and bubble gum with subtle hints of limestone. Slight effervescence and lively acidity on the palate combine with notes of watermelon, cantaloupe and grapefruit to enhance a memorable finish.
Grapes for the 2018 Grenache Rose come from Vogelzang Vineyard in Happy Canyon, the warmest region of the Santa Ynez Valley. These grapes we hand-picked at night to preserve natural acidity and to help ensure a cold fermentation. Upon arrival at the winery the fruit was whole-cluster pressed using a “champagne-style” press procedure to reduce the inclusion of harsh skin and seed tannins. Once pressed, the unfermented juice was homogenized with the lees twice daily while kept at a cold 35 degrees for about a week, which releases locked-in aromatics and creates a sense of weight in the wine. Once the wine was racked off the lees it was fermented in stainless steel for about three weeks. Upon completion the wine was left to age in stainless steel for three months before being bottled in February 2019.
Enjoy the 2018 Grenache Rosé with Jamaican Jerk Chicken, Sweet & Sour Chicken, or Traditional Spanish Seafood Paella. On the lighter side, try pairing this rosé with Salade Niçoise, Roasted Beet Salad with Goat Cheese, as well as charcuterie and ham with sheep’s cheese.
The 2018 Grenache Roséshould be enjoyed now and for up to an additional 12 months. This wine is not a candidate for long term aging.
