GRAPE BLEND & SOURCE
100% Syrah Coqulicot Vineyard, Santa Ynez Valley
The 2019 Syrah Rosé has a vibrant nose featuring incredible notes of pineapple, guava, pink grapefruit, and fresh-bloomed jasmine. Strawberries and cream and tea leaf tannins star on the round palate with hints of lemon zest, fresh pineapple, and warm vanilla, culminating in a unique hibiscus finish. Just 172 cases produced.
The Syrah grapes were hand-harvested from a single organic vineyard in Santa Ynez Valley on October 17th 2019. Our three tons of grapes were crushed, de-stemmed, and cold soaked for 30 hours. We used the saignée method to extract the color of the pigment, and characters from the tannin. The Syrah juice was inoculated with a Rhone-style yeast which helps highlight its bold cherry, and floral notes. This fermentation was complete in 10 days. Our wine was then cold, and heat stabilized which then led to filtering for bottling on February 26th, 2020. The fruit characters and grape tannins from the Syrah along with the acidity are the components which helped balance this plump fruit forward style Syrah Rosé.
